Fuchsite is a stunning emerald green variety of muscovite mica that was named after Johann Fuchs, who was a german mineralogist. Its color is due to its chromium content. It is utilized both as an ornamental stone and as a mineral specimen. It exhibits a monoclinic crystal system, a vitreous to pearly luster, a transparent to translucent transparency, a white streak, a specific gravity of about 2.8, a Mohs scale hardness of 2-3, and perfect cleavage in one direction, causing it to form sheets. If small crystals are present, fuchsite may be especially sparkly and beautiful, drawing eyes to it. This crystal is normally found in the form of small crystals in compact masses, and its impressive color may be credited to chromium impurities. Interestingly, fuchsite's cleavage sheets are elastic and flexible, meaning that they will assume their original shape after being bent. Notable occurrences include Brazil, Austria, Sweden and many locations within the United States.

In the metaphysical world, fuchsite resonates with the heart chakra and is associated with the astrological signs of aquarius and libra. Its numerical vibration is 9. It is sometimes referred to as the “stone of health” or the “healer's stone,” partly because it is utilized to help access health information. Wearing it, keeping it near and/or meditating with it may accelerate recovery from emotional and physical problems. Fuchsite's presence may encourage compassion and friendliness and influence its keeper to become more lighthearted. In particular, this crystal may come in handy for those who tend to feel responsible for saving self destructive people, as it is said to help them to pay attention to their own health (and the health of their loved ones) and to accept that it may be better to allow the self destructive to take responsibility for their own lives. It may make it easier to say “no,” for good hearted people who regularly get taken advantage of, and enable them to step back and view situations objectively, from both an emotional and mental standpoint. Keeping a fair sized piece of fuchsite in the home may benefit the family in that it should encourage all family members to take responsibility for their own health. The primary “caregiver” of the home would also be relieved of some burden in this scenario, bringing balance to the home and allowing everyone who lives there to grow in an independent and positive way.

The stone of health brings physical healing benefits to the table in addition to the aforementioned metaphysical healing benefits. It is claimed to speed up the rate of deep healing by assisting with immunity and recovery. In cases where multiple crystals are used for healing, fuchsite is also believed to increase energy transfer. These qualities make it an excellent stone for anyone to have on hand to assist with any and all healing situations, as it can only speed up the process.
