Gemstone Hearts and Symbolism

The “Heart Symbol” is an ancient symbol dating back to antiquity. Sources of this symbol include water-lily leaves, fig fruit, silphium seeds, and female anatomy.  Its first association with romantic love and human anatomy started in the middle ages and has since evolved to represent unconditional love, empathy, and solidarity.  Crystals formed into the shapes of a heart help to activate the Heart (4th) chakra and emanate particularly good vibrations.

Aristotle suggested that the heart is the center of all emotion.  It is a symbol to represent the spiritual, emotional, and intellectual core of human beings and is often referred to as the seat for the soul.  Although this suggestion may reject obvious value of the brain, love is not something that can always be justified by logic or rational thought.  Love is intuitive; it is something we feel.  This being said, what better symbol is there to express such emotional depth?

There are a variety of heart-shaped gems that can properly reflect those passionate thoughts regarding that special someone you love.  Such gems include, but are not limited to:

With its vibrant red-orange color and warm tones, carnelian activates the first, second, and third chakras, bringing an influx of life force, sexual and creative energies, and assertive will.  It is a powerful aid to those who wish to build their confidence, courage, passion and power.

Rose Quartz

Gentle and soft pink, this recognizable member of the Quartz family is great for emotional healing and clearing the mind of unwanted stress or anxiety.  Rose Quartz is a wonderful gift for reinforcing the bond shared between you and your loved one.

Amethyst is renowned for its power to aid in healing at all levels. It assists in meditation and the raising of spiritual awareness. It is a calming gemstone, easing stress and encouraging peaceful sleep.

Selenite is often used for clarity of mental processes, thus making it an exquisite selection to gift to someone special. It was the original record keeping stone in Atlantean and Lemurian times.  Using the same rubbing technique as for Past Lives, ask your Selenite for passage to particular areas of knowledge.  Many times that knowledge is given to you while dreaming or during astral traveling.
